Group Project

Group Projects are never my thing. I usually do not like doing them or even thinking about having to do a group project. This project is not the case. I enjoy doing this group project because we have time in class to work on the project. Our group has definitions and descriptions. Having time in class to do the project is great because as a group we have gotten a lot of work accomplished together. We have our main information for the project done and now all we have to do it put it together and divide who will say what. All together we worked on the project and I think it was enjoyable to work with our peers without worrying about having a time everyone could meet.

I am defiantly not looking forward to presenting the project but the experience of working with my group I fully enjoyed. (:

Instructions

Instructions are something that we use in our daily lives. When knowing that I had to write my own set of instructions I was a little nervous. I did not want to write instructions on something that already had a set of instructions. I am not one to build anything or put anything together. I am playing on doing my instructions on a family soup recipe. My family usually does not use any recipes and just does everything off the top of their heads. I thought that it would be fun to make the soup and write a set of instructions as I go! I figured everyone loves soup and learning to cook a family recipe in the process will be fun!

Designing Documents and Web Sites

Designing technical documents have never crossed my mind. Never knowing that what I write on a day to day basis is a technical document. Writing memos, meeting minutes, resumes, and papers for as long as I can remember has made me never think twice about what I am writing. Reading this chapter made me think about the actual goals of when you write the documents. Goals to make a good impression on the reader, help the reader find information, understand the information, and understand the information. I knew that when you are writing anything at all you have a goal in mind but having that goal accomplish takes many steps along the way. Also I never thought about the time and effort goes into writing technical documents until this chapter. Writing documents for work and school I never have took the time to plan and design my documents. Writing memos for work is like second nature to me and there is not much to think about anymore. I just write what major things have happened throughout my shift. Some documents take more time and effort to write and some are easier. Having an effective document with a good design can help the reader accomplish tasks, learn something new, or make someone understand something. Planning out the document and proof reading after it is written is just some tricks into making the document successful and effective.

Project #1

Hello Everyone!

For the first project I thought it would be fun to analysis a bad memo from work or a bad cover letter. I have not decided fully what I want to do but hopefully it will come to me soon! Analyzing a memo or cover letter will help my communication skills improve for the better, in my working environment or my future working environment.
